The Airport of Teruel started on Tuesday 6th December 2017, the night flights in restricted use for the first time.
A PA28 aircraft piloted by the managers of the Flying Flight Aviation (FTA) pilot school, based at the airport, has staged the first operation in this first day of night flight on demand and under the rules of visual flight. The implementation of this new service is carried out after the authorization of the State Agency for Air Safety (AESA) and the Department of Vertebration of Territory, Mobility and Housing of the Government of Aragon, holder of the facilities of this aerodrome of regional competence.

The night operations were prepared at night between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, according to the director general of Teruel Airport, Alejandro Ibrahim.
The night flight on demand will initially have as users the students of FTA, eight at present, and companies that request it. The British pilot school applied for this benefit in order to expand its activity in Teruel, since night flight training is part of the lessons that students must pass to obtain the title of commercial pilot. In fact, the first promotion that began in September 2016 already begin to fly on airlines.
To start operations outside daylight hours, it was necessary an investment of about 40,000 euros to install an aerodrome beacon, signaling beacons in electric towers near the airport and the beacon system of the threshold moved in the head south of the flight track. To operate at night it is necessary to request permission to the Airport 24 hours in advance.
In 2018, the Airport of Teruel plans to adapt the runway for instrumental use with a work to extend the approach beacon for 205 thousand euros awarded to Deimos Space and that work will begin in a couple of months. Also to do the project and work of the paving of the Campa in its Phase III and the beginning of commercial operations of aircrafts up to 19 passengers to offer a service requested by the maintenance and parking customers of large aircraft. In the same way, security equipment (X-ray machine, metal detector arc and trace detector of explosives) and 6 km of optical fiber to improve communications.
